I am thrilled to announce that Duncan Alex (that's me, he he, sha-mowwwn M.F.) is numbers 3, 6 and 7 on the Lemonrock Original mp3 chart - this is a pay-per-download chart...
Also I'm numbers 2 and 3 on the covers chart with two fav's of mine - The Animals' House of the Rising Sun and Amy Winehouse's Back to Black.

James Brown died today.

Happy Christmas and Merry New Year! Not sure whether the below is a gift or a burden, but it's me karaoke-singing Elvis' "Trouble". There's also attempts at "Ring of Fire", "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" and "Seven Spanish Angels".
Great fun site if you like having a go at singing by the way! You'll need broadband though, and even then it's quite lagg'ey. Take care and drive safely during this break if you're in wintery parts.
November 13
This... is the new movie by Scott Lawson...Jimmy's List...
November 6
Remember remember, the 5th of November...Damn I forgot.
Imaginary Band is number 1 on the mp3.com.au pop charts, 6 in the pop &
rock chart, and 39 overall... thankyou! I think this must be the highest yet, for the longest
time at number 1 in pop as well.
Now, there's some new free songs and stuff up on my Myspace site. Please be my friend and drop me a line,
wherever you are.
In other newsDark Decisions continues screening at numerous film
festivals in Australia, Canada, USA, UK, Europe and the Eastern Block, but it has also
recently won the "Film Ballarat Hepburn Award" at the Victoria Festival of Motion Image.
Imaginary Band is currently NUMBER 1 on the mp3.com.au pop charts! This is
amazing! Thankyou. In other newsDark Decisions has now crossed into Europe proper,
being accepted into the Borges En Court
i> international film festival in Catelonia, Spain. A trip must be taken
to see what this festival's about!

Canada over the coming months - 2006 Bridge Fest screening in Vancouver and the

North Carolina and the Moviesauce Film Festival in Shreveport, Louisiana from June 2nd

R.I.P. website once again. But fear not, I'm back with more empty promises!
Film news: Dark Decisions
font> has
been accepted into the Filmstock International Film Festival,
a significant feat - apparently this year the festival has been inundated with entries. The
film's director Scott Lawson also has a new blog site for his new movie Jimmy's List here. The new short film has been filmed
entirely on location in Banff, Canada, and features more of my music.
My part-time band Freewheelin' has found a drummer. After rehearsing one
night with the drummer we decided he is good, and thought "what the
hell" and played at a band night competition the next day at the new
Zephyr Bar in Newton Abbot. Of course we didn't win, but we did receive
a good crowd response, plus found out we were the first band to ever play
at the club.
Imaginary Band is currently number 3 on the mp3.com.au pop charts, 15 in the pop &
rock chart, and 114 overall... thankyou so much whoever my fan is :)
Nov 23
Imaginary Band is currentlynumber 2 on the mp3.com.au pop charts... and for the
first time that I'm aware of is around 100 in the overall charts and top TEN in pop and
rock. I am thrilled! But before all this goes to my head and blocks out the keyboard thus
preventing me from updating you lovely people on the world of Imaginary Band, let me
continue with some worthy news. The film that I have composed the soundtrack for, Dark Decisions has been
selected for the Hollywood DV Festival in LA in December (7-11). This film, written and
directed by Scott Lawson, is a 15 minute short film that goes a little like this:
While camping with his girlfriend and best mate, James awakens to them in an
"intimate" embrace. He could stay and confront them, or leave and start a new journey.
From a life altering snap decision, James moves to a new city to start a new life. Escaping
those who betrayed him. Will he find new love? Or will he be forever controlled by his fears
and desires?
In other Imaginary Band news, I am currently working on the soundtrack for Scott Lawson's
next film, and I am entering some of my songs into some international songwriting
competitions. Also I am working on a relaxation CD for a good friend. Meanwhile, back at
the ranch, the writing and recording goes on, the occasional demo CD goes out, and life
goes onwards, and sometimes it goes sideways, sometimes downwards, but hopefully
mostly upwards.
Aug 30
Imaginary Band has been top 10 on the mp3.com.au pop charts... for some time
now.
The Screen Tasmania funded short film, Dark Decisions, for which I
composed the soundtrack, now has an official website located here.
Jul 10
Let me first send out good vibes to anyone who hs been affected by the brutal London
bombing.
Wow. Imaginary Band is number 4 on the mp3.com.au pop charts... someone out
there is being very kind.
The Screen Tasmania funded short film Dark Decisions has now been completed, and the
soundtrack that I composed with it.
April 28
Well! Thankyou - you lovely people have moved Imaginary Band to the number 5 spot on the mp3.com.au pop charts!
In other news following on from the Feb 6 announcement, Apple FM covered a March 30
gig I did with with my duo, Freewheelin, and are currently preparing a
show based on the night. I've been invited onto the morning show for a few interviews
over the course of the last three months.
My old covers band honoured me by asking me to do a kind of reunion gig on April 16 -
which I'm really glad I did despite the throat virus I had, because it was good fun and great
to catch up with everyone for the couple of practices and for the gig itself.
Finally in the news today, there is currently a short film being made in
Tasmania. It's finished filming actually. Tentatively to be called Dark Decisions, it is written and directed by young
director Scott Lawson. Why do I mention this? Well, I am lucky enough to be the dude who
is composing the soundtrack for it! More news as this progresses.
Feb 6
After hearing a demo I gave them, Devon-based digital satellite radio station Apple FM has
pledged support for me as a musician. They are giving me airplay and following my
musical journey for a time, through a series of interviews on a monthly basis. This is
obviously great news!
Nov 25
Don't even say it.
It's been so long I've even forgotton I'm in this band.
July 16
Good news to my fan. Now you can tell me what you think of my crappy updates. There's
now a guestbook! Go here to leave your abuse for all the world to see. Hey, I've
got some seriously famous guests on this site!
July 15
The coolest thing: you can get 2 Imaginary Band songs for 75p! Check out the mp3s page!
A.I. and You Crossed the Line - from the album Beyond the Gift.
July 10
Ok I spoke too soon. CULM are going to use a female singer to do their old tracks as my
vocal chords (being of a lower range) could not reproduce some of the older songs we
were to be doing in their original keys. Shame because the new song we came up with
together was phat. Two covers gigs over next couple of months.
June 22
Hello again. Some actual news this time. I've been inducted into the CULM live rehearsals.
We've had three in the last month or so, another on Wednesday. The most interesting bit is
what we've done together in terms of developing one of the old songs, and creating a new
one - I think it rocks! Covers band still simmering. Over last few months though I've been
writing and recording quite a bit. Am very excited about the results!
At the risk of putting a jinx on it, I'm not going to let slip the other news.
February 24
Imaginary Band is number 26 on the mp3.com.au pop charts...Bully for them.
January 25
Visited CULM and worked on vocals for the second last song. A re-write in order to try and
enhance the existing pushy slow funk feel of the bass and drums. Not sure if it works yet; I
think they were happy but will wait and see how it sits. Band practice Sunday, without bass
player, or amplifier, and hence very little vocal volume. Very sore throat! I'm really hoping
for snow this week but the Met Office says no chance! Loads of downloads on
mp3.com.au... this week. What's going on? Imaginary
Band is number 12 on the pop charts...what a nice bunch of peeps you are!
January 18
Two more songs to do semi-final vocals on for the CULM producers, and my next covers
band gig on February 21st and loads of new songs to learn. Meanwhile I've been working
on so many bits and pieces that I forget them all, but mostly they're songs! Really
descriptive hey? Thank God I'm not famous or I'd have hoardes of deserting fans,
complaints and bomb threats - "give us somethin' that's f&*cking interesting for a
change." I'd just have to say, well, wait til the album - I can't be interesting 24/7. I
struggle with the 7 bit. How do STARS manage it? Does anyone really care?
December 6
Imaginary Band is number 44 on the mp3.com.au pop charts...
October 27
Hello! With the release of the new songs, Imaginary Band has popped up the pop charts
(see what I did there?) and become number 32 most downloaded. Go on! See if you can
send us higher! Click! Don't Be Sad is number 39 on the pop charts...but It's all Wrong has severely lacked attention for some
reason... I know it's a negative title but c'mon it's a good tune!
October 12
Hello again... After the travesty of website maintenance that has been the last two months,
I sincerely hope to finally compensate to the person who is still listening. Thanks for
hanging with me mate :)
Without further ado, there's new Jarvis Nebulae Files episodes to be read!! From Part 3 to
Part 6, the end of the first part of the series. That's loads of 'em! Get reading! The
shortcut is here...or go to the thought page and click on.
Secondly, it's been a productive period musically. After completing work on several new
demo songs - some of my best ever, I have joined a covers band locally and have been
rehearsing with them for about 6 weeks now, ready for our first gig on October 24th. Then
there's another one two weeks afterwards.
Thirdly I've been working with a producer duo who call themselves CULM. They have an
album that's been three years in the making, and I am to replace all the vocals on it... It's
going very well so far. The music is interesting prog-rock material with a message. More
news on CULM later, but meantime, their website is here...
Aside from that, I've finally freshened up the Imaginary Band song line-up on mp3.com.au... with two unheard songs, written around
2001. The first is an acoustic/vocal number from the film "Forced Impressions" - it's called
"Don't Be Sad". Then there's a really poppy little tune called "It's All Wrong". I hope you
enjoy!
It feels good to be back! Until (a much more brief) next time...
July 26
Yep, still here. Now I'm hoping to get a couple of new demo quality songs on the web in
the next week or so. Please bear with me! You can still listen to stuff here...
June 12
Imaginary Band is number 39 on the mp3.com.au pop charts this week.
May 31
Imaginary Band has resurfaced at number 16 on the mp3.com.au pop charts this week! Check out the song
that's proving the most popular of Imaginary Band's tracks - the striking slo-groove LFE.
You can help take it to number 1 by clicking

April 20
Quilted patterns on my face
Thoughts inside my head they race
Maybe there's another place
I touch it in my dreams
But it leaves me when I wake
March 24
I dreamt the sky had burnt a hole
Through which the whole world could crawl
I don't want to be alone
Somebody's prehistoric bones
I'm not like the wind you see
It has got to be super real
